About the Mangal Dosh Nivaran Puja with Pandit Ji

If an astrologer has suggested a Mangal shanti puja, the planning questions arrive fast: what the ritual involves, how long it takes, and what to arrange. A pandit leads the vidhi and explains each stage, so you can concentrate on the ritual itself.

In Vedic astrology Mangal (Mars) is one of the nine grahas, and a Mangal shanti puja is a traditional ritual of prayers, mantra recitation and a havan directed to it. Families usually choose it on their own astrologer's advice, sometimes before a wedding. This is a ritual of prayer and observance, not a guaranteed remedy for any chart condition.

Families who have been advised by their astrologer to perform a Mangal shanti; people preparing for a wedding who want the ritual done first; households who follow graha shanti traditions.

Many families choose a Tuesday, the day associated with Mangal, or a date their astrologer suggests, but practice varies. Please consult your family's astrologer for chart-based questions; our pandits can suggest muhurat options and will follow your family's custom.

About 3 hours for the standard ceremony; about 4.5 hours for the extended one.

If your astrologer has not specified a format, the standard is a reasonable start. If you have been advised to do a fuller ritual or your family follows the fuller vidhi, choose the extended.

Choose 'With samagri' and the pandit brings the ritual items. Choose 'Own samagri' if you already have them or prefer to buy them yourself. Mangal pujas use specific items, so confirm with your pandit what you need to arrange.

The person the ritual is performed for, with the head of the household or parents. Others can join for the havan and aarti; families decide this for themselves.

Mangal shanti is done differently across traditions, including the mantras, the count of recitation, the symbolic rites and the daan. Tell us your tradition and any astrologer instructions when booking so we can match a pandit who follows it.

Havan and diyas involve an open flame. Use a stable heat-safe surface, keep the space ventilated, keep water nearby, and keep flames away from curtains, children and pets. Follow your building's rules on havan in common areas.

How long should I plan for? About 3 hours for the standard ceremony and about 4.5 hours for the extended one, plus setup time.

Will this fix a problem in my chart? No ritual can promise an outcome. Families choose it as a traditional observance, and chart-based questions are best taken to your family's astrologer.

Is it only for people before marriage? Not necessarily. Many families choose it at other times too. Your astrologer can advise.

Can we change the mantra count or rites? Your astrologer's or family's instructions take priority. Share them when you book.

Can we do it on video? Usually yes. You arrange the samagri and a safe fire spot, and the pandit leads on video.
