About

About the Guru Chandal Dosh with Pandit Ji

Families who hear about Guru Chandal in a chart reading often find it hard to know what the ritual involves. A team of pandits can lead the shanti ritual, so you can follow the ceremony instead of managing it.

In Jyotish, Guru Chandal refers to the conjunction of Jupiter (Guru) and Rahu in a chart. Families who choose a shanti ritual for it traditionally offer prayers to Ganesha, Shiva and Vishnu along with graha mantras. The ritual is a traditional practice, not a guarantee of any outcome.

Families whose astrologer has suggested a shanti ritual for this conjunction; people who want a traditional graha-focused ceremony led by several pandits; households who prefer a longer, more detailed vidhi.

Timing is usually chosen with an astrologer and a panchang, often a day linked to Guru or Rahu, but customs vary. We suggest speaking to your family's astrologer for chart-based questions. The pandit team can suggest muhurat options on request.

About 5 hours for the standard ceremony; about 7.5 hours for the extended one.

If you want the essential sequence and a shorter day, start with the standard. If your astrologer or elders advise a fuller ritual, choose the extended ceremony.

Choose 'With samagri' and the pandit brings the ritual items. Choose 'Own samagri' if you already have them or prefer to arrange them yourself; the pandit can share the list in advance.

A live video version may be possible for Guru Chandal Dosh, but it is a long or large-format ritual, so it needs confirming with us before you book.

The person the ritual is for and close family. Traditionally the household head sits for the main rituals, but families decide this. Others can join for the aarti and prasad.

The deities invoked, the number of recitations and the sequence differ across traditions and astrologers. Share any instructions from your astrologer when you book.

This ritual involves an open flame (havan or diya). Use a stable heat-safe surface, keep the space ventilated, keep water nearby, and keep flames away from curtains, children and pets. Follow your building's rules on havan in common areas.

Will this remove the dosh in my chart? We do not make that claim. The ritual is a traditional offering, and chart-based questions are best discussed with your family's astrologer.

Why are there 7 pandits? It is a large-format ritual with many recitations, and the team shares them so they can be done at a measured pace.

How long should I plan for? About 5 hours for the standard ceremony and about 7.5 hours for the extended one.

Can it be done on video? It may be possible, but it is a long and large-format ritual, so please confirm with us before booking.
