About the Ketu Dosh Nivaran Puja with Pandit Ji

If your family has been advised to do a Ketu puja, the practical questions pile up fast: how many pandits, how long, which samagri, which day. A Vedic Rituals team of pandits leads the ritual and handles the vidhi, so you can focus on being present for it.

In Vedic astrology Ketu is one of the nine grahas, and a Ketu shanti puja is a traditional ritual of prayers, mantra recitation and a havan directed to it. Families usually choose it on the advice of their own astrologer. This is a ritual of prayer and observance, not a guaranteed remedy for any chart condition.

Families who have been advised by their astrologer to perform a Ketu shanti; people who want a graha-focused ritual as part of a larger set of pujas; households who prefer to do such a ritual with a full team of pandits.

Many families choose a Saturday or a day associated with Ketu, or a date their astrologer suggests, but practice varies. Please consult your family's astrologer for chart-based questions; our pandits can suggest muhurat options and will follow your family's custom.

About 4 hours for the standard ceremony; about 6 hours for the extended one.

If your astrologer has not specified a format, the standard ceremony is a reasonable start. If you have been advised to do a longer recitation or your family follows the fuller vidhi, choose the extended option.

Choose 'With samagri' and the pandit brings the ritual items. Choose 'Own samagri' if you already have them or prefer to buy them yourself. Ketu pujas use specific items, so confirm with your pandit what you need to arrange.

A live video version may be possible for Ketu Dosh Nivaran Puja, but because the format is long or large it needs confirming with us before you book. If it goes ahead, the family arranges the samagri and a helper at home makes things easier.

The person or family the ritual is performed for, with the head of the household. Other family members may sit in or join for the havan and aarti; families decide this for themselves.

Ketu shanti is done differently across traditions, including the mantras, the count of recitation, the daan and the days chosen. Tell us your tradition and any astrologer instructions when booking so we can match a pandit who follows it.

Havan and diyas involve an open flame. Use a stable heat-safe surface, keep the space ventilated, keep water nearby, and keep flames away from curtains, children and pets. Follow your building's rules on havan in common areas. The ritual is long, so plan breaks and have water ready for those sitting.

How long should I plan for? About 4 hours for the standard ceremony and about 6 hours for the extended one, plus setup time.

Why are there 4 pandits? Ketu shanti is traditionally a recitation-heavy ritual and the pandits share the mantra recitation and havan. We confirm the team when you book.

Will this fix a problem in my chart? No ritual can promise an outcome. Families choose this puja as a traditional observance, and chart-based questions are best taken to your family's astrologer.

Can we change the mantra count or daan? Your astrologer's or family's instructions take priority. Share them when you book and the pandit will follow where possible.

Is it possible on video? It may be possible but the long format needs confirming with us before booking.
