About the Lagna Patrika Engagement with Pandit Ji

Between an engagement and a wedding, families often want a proper moment to fix the date and exchange it in writing. A pandit handles the vidhi and the lagna patrika, so the two families can focus on each other.

A lagna patrika is traditionally a written letter that records the wedding muhurat, often prepared by the pandit and exchanged between the two families during a small ceremony. Many families combine it with the engagement. The rituals and exact form vary by region and community.

Families of an engaged couple who want to formally exchange the wedding date; households who want a pandit-led engagement ceremony; families who want an astrologer-suggested muhurat recorded.

Most families hold it a few weeks to months before the wedding, on a day agreed by both sides. The pandit can suggest a muhurat for the ceremony and, if you ask, discuss wedding date options. For chart-matching questions, please consult your family's astrologer.

About 1.5 hours for the standard ceremony; about 2 hours for the extended one.

If you want a short, formal exchange, start with the standard. If your family's custom includes more rituals or you are hosting many relatives, choose the extended.

Choose 'With samagri' and the pandit brings the ritual items. Choose 'Own samagri' if you already have them or prefer to buy them yourself.

The couple, their parents and close elders from both sides. Families decide who sits for the main rituals.
