About

About the Diwali Puja with Pandit Ji

Diwali night is already full: lights, family, guests and sweets. The pooja still needs the right sequence and timing. A pandit leads the vidhi so you can stay with your family instead of searching for what comes next.

Diwali pooja is traditionally centred on Lakshmi and Ganesh, held on the amavasya evening in Kartik. Families light diyas, offer sweets and pray together. Customs differ across regions and communities.

Families who mark Diwali at home; shop owners and business families who hold a Lakshmi pooja at the premises; first-time hosts who want a pandit-led pooja.

The pooja timing is taken from the panchang each year, and many families choose the Pradosh or evening muhurat on the amavasya. Your pandit can suggest muhurat options for your city. Family custom takes priority.

About 1 hour for the standard ceremony; about 2 hours for the extended one.

Choose the standard for a family pooja that fits into the evening. Choose the extended for a larger gathering, a business premises or a family that follows the fuller vidhi.

Choose 'With samagri' and the pandit brings the ritual items. Choose 'Own samagri' if you already have them or prefer to buy them yourself. The Vedic Rituals Diwali Lakshmi-Ganesh Kit packs related essentials if you want to arrange samagri yourself; your pandit will tell you if anything specific to this ritual needs adding.

The household, usually led by the head of the family. Children, relatives and guests can join for the aarti and prasad.

Some families worship Lakshmi and Ganesh with Saraswati or Kuber, some follow a specific business-account custom (such as chopda pujan in Gujarati families), and Bengal observes Kali Puja on this night. Tell us your custom when booking.

The ritual uses diyas and incense. Keep lamps on a stable surface, away from curtains and decorations, and keep children and pets at a safe distance.

What time is the Diwali pooja? The muhurat changes each year with the panchang. Your pandit can suggest options for your city.

How long should I plan for? About 1 hour for the standard and about 2 hours for the extended ceremony.

Can we do it at the shop or office? Yes. Many business families do. Tell us the location when booking.

Is a pandit available on Diwali night itself? Pandits are in demand on festival evenings, so book early and confirm the slot.

Can we do it on video? It is possible if you arrange samagri yourself and have a helper at home. Please confirm with us first.
