About the Gemstone Consecration Puja with Pandit Ji

Many families buy a gemstone on an astrologer's advice and are then unsure what to do before wearing it. A pandit can lead a simple ritual to cleanse and consecrate it, so the stone is ready on the day you choose.

In many traditions, a new gemstone or ring is cleansed and offered prayers before it is first worn, as a mark of respect and intent. The ritual usually centres on the deity or graha linked to the stone in your family's practice. Which stone you wear, and why, is a separate question for your astrologer.

People who have bought a gemstone ring or pendant on an astrologer's advice; families gifting a stone and wanting it consecrated first; anyone who has an older stone they want to re-consecrate.

Many families choose a day and hora linked to the stone's graha, for example a Thursday for yellow sapphire, but customs vary. Your astrologer and pandit can suggest a suitable muhurat. Your family's custom takes priority.

About 1.5 hours for the standard ceremony; about 2 hours for the extended one.

If you have one stone and want a simple ceremony, start with the standard. If you have multiple stones or want a fuller ritual, the extended ceremony gives more time.

Choose 'With samagri' and the pandit brings the ritual items. Choose 'Own samagri' if you already have them or prefer to arrange them yourself; the pandit can share the list in advance.

The person who will wear the stone. Family members can join and watch.

Practices differ by region, family and by the stone. Some families do a short abhishek and mantra offering, others a fuller ceremony. Tell us your family's tradition when booking.

Do I need an astrologer first? The ritual does not choose the stone. If you are unsure which stone suits you, speak to your family's astrologer before buying.

Can the ritual be done on a ring I already wear? Many families do this, and the pandit can advise on your custom.

Do you provide the gemstone? No. You bring your own stone.

How long will it take? About 1.5 hours for the standard ceremony and about 2 hours for the extended one.
