About

About the Ayudh Puja with Pandit Ji

For many families and businesses, Ayudh Puja means arranging everything at once: cleaning machines and vehicles, collecting items, and finding a pandit who knows the vidhi. A pandit takes over the sequence so you can set up your tools and be there for the ritual.

Ayudh Puja is the traditional worship of tools, instruments and vehicles, honouring the things people use to earn a living and do their craft. It is widely observed around Navratri, often on Maha Navami, especially in southern and western India, and some families do it in other regions too. Customs differ.

Business owners and shopkeepers; craftspeople, mechanics, farmers and artists; families with a new or favourite vehicle; offices, workshops and studios.

Many families observe it on Maha Navami during Navratri, and some on Vijayadashami. Your pandit can suggest a muhurat for your date and city. If your family or workplace has its own custom, that takes priority.

About 1.5 hours for the standard ceremony; about 2 hours for the extended one.

Choose the standard for a home, a vehicle or a small shop. Choose the extended for a larger workspace or if your family follows the fuller vidhi.

Choose 'With samagri' and the pandit brings the ritual items. Choose 'Own samagri' if you already have them or prefer to buy them yourself.

This ritual is best done with the pandit present, so video is not offered.

The owner of the business or the head of the household, and staff or family who use the tools. Everyone can join for the aarti and prasad.

Tools worshipped, the day, and the deities involved differ across Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Maharashtrian and North Indian communities. Tell us your tradition and region when booking.

The pooja involves a lamp and sometimes camphor. Keep flames well away from machines, fuel and vehicles. Switch off equipment before decorating it.

Which things can be worshipped? Families include tools, machines, vehicles, books and instruments. The pandit follows your custom for what is included.

Is this only for businesses? No. Many families do it for a vehicle or a craft. A short home ceremony works well.

When is it usually done? Many families do it on Maha Navami in Navratri, others on Vijayadashami. Your pandit can suggest a muhurat.

Can we do it at an office or workshop? Yes. Tell us the place and the equipment so the pandit can plan the seating and the sequence.

Can it be done on video? This pooja is best done with the pandit present, so video is not offered.
