About

About the Grah Shanti Pooja with Pandit Ji

A graha shanti ritual has many parts, and families often feel unsure about the order, the samagri and who should lead it. A pandit takes charge of the vidhi so you can sit and take part without worrying about getting it right.

Grah Shanti is a traditional ritual that offers prayers to the nine grahas (navagraha) along with Ganesha and other deities. Many families choose it at significant points in life, such as a new beginning, a move or a milestone, as a way of marking the occasion with intention. It is not a guarantee of any outcome.

Families marking a new beginning, such as a home, a business or a new phase of life; households whose astrologer has suggested a graha shanti; people who want a traditional navagraha ritual with a havan.

Many families choose a day linked to the graha in question or a muhurat from the panchang. If a chart-based question is behind the ritual, we suggest speaking to your family's astrologer first. The pandit can suggest muhurat options for your date and city, and your family's custom takes priority.

About 2 hours for the standard ceremony; about 3 hours for the extended one.

If you want the essential sequence and a smaller gathering, start with the standard. If your family expects a fuller vidhi or more recitation, choose the extended ceremony with two pandits.

Choose 'With samagri' and the pandit brings the ritual items. Choose 'Own samagri' if you already have them or prefer to arrange them yourself; the pandit can share the list in advance.

The person or household the ritual is for. Traditionally the head of household or the couple sits, but families decide this. Others can join for the aarti and prasad.

The sequence, the deities invoked and the havan details differ across traditions and regions. Tell us your tradition and language when booking so we can match a pandit who follows it.

This ritual involves an open flame (havan or diya). Use a stable heat-safe surface, keep the space ventilated, keep water nearby, and keep flames away from curtains, children and pets. Follow your building's rules on havan in common areas.

Will this fix a problem in my chart? We do not make that claim. The ritual is a traditional offering to the grahas, and chart-based questions are best discussed with your family's astrologer.

How long should I plan for? About 2 hours for the standard ceremony and about 3 hours for the extended one.

Is a havan included? Yes, a havan is part of the sequence. If your building does not allow an open flame, speak to the pandit about alternatives.

Why does the extended ceremony have two pandits? The second pandit helps with the recitations and havan so each stage can be done at a measured pace.
