About the Vastu Homam with Pandit Ji

A homam has many parts, from the kund and the fire to the right offerings at the right moment, and it is easy to get overwhelmed. A pandit leads the homam, so you can focus on the occasion.

Vastu Homam is a fire ritual that many families hold in connection with a new or renovated home, a shop or an office. It involves prayers to Vastu Purusha and related deities, with offerings in the fire. Families choose it as part of beginning life in a space.

Families building, buying or renovating a home; owners of a new shop or office; households who want a homam as part of griha pravesh.

Many families do it before or around griha pravesh, on a muhurat from the panchang. Your pandit can suggest options. If you have specific Vastu questions about your space, please consult a Vastu consultant.

About 1 hour for the standard ceremony; about 1.5 hours for the extended one.

Choose the standard for a focused homam. Choose the extended ceremony if you want the fuller sequence or have a larger space and gathering.

Choose 'With samagri' and the pandit brings the ritual items. Choose 'Own samagri' if you already have them or prefer to buy them yourself, and ask the pandit for the list in advance.

Havan and diyas involve an open flame. Use a stable heat-safe surface, keep the space ventilated, keep water nearby, and keep flames away from curtains, children and pets. Follow your building's rules on havan in common areas.

How is Vastu Homam different from Vastu Shanti? Both are connected with the home. The sequences differ, and the pandit can explain which fits your occasion.

How long should I plan for? About 1 hour for the standard ceremony and about 1.5 hours for the extended one.

Can it be done in an apartment? Often yes, depending on building rules around open flames. Check with your society and speak to the pandit about alternatives.

Do I need a Vastu consultant first? The homam is a ritual, not an inspection of the space. If you have Vastu questions about your property, consult a Vastu expert.
