About

About the Pitambari Homam with Pandit Ji

Homams ask for precision: the right items, the right mantras and an order that cannot be rushed. A pandit leads the homam and keeps the sequence, so you can focus on sitting calmly through it.

Pitambari is a name used for the goddess also known as Baglamukhi or Pitambara, associated in tradition with the colour yellow. Many families perform a homam with mantra recitation and offerings into the sacred fire as an act of worship. Practice varies widely, and no outcome is promised.

Devotees of the goddess who want a homam performed by a pandit; families whose guru, tradition or astrologer has suggested it; people who follow a personal sadhana and want a ritual conducted properly.

Many choose a date from the panchang, and some prefer a particular weekday or tithi in their tradition. Your pandit can suggest muhurat options. Your family's or guru's custom takes priority.

About 1 hour for the standard ceremony; about 1.5 hours for the extended one

Choose the standard for a shorter homam. Choose the extended if your tradition or guru has asked for fuller recitation.

Choose 'With samagri' and the pandit brings the ritual items. Choose 'Own samagri' if you already have them or prefer to buy them yourself. The samagri for a homam is specific to the ritual, so ask the pandit for the list if you arrange it yourself.

The person or household performing the homam. Others can join for the aarti and prasad, as per family custom.

The mantras, counts, items and dress customs differ by lineage and guru. Tell us your tradition at booking.

Havan and diyas involve an open flame. Use a stable heat-safe surface, keep the space ventilated, keep water nearby, and keep flames away from curtains, children and pets. Follow your building's rules on havan in common areas.

How long should I plan for? About 1 hour for the standard ceremony and about 1.5 hours for the extended one, plus setup.

Is Pitambari the same as Baglamukhi? They are names for the same goddess in many traditions, though usage varies.

Does the homam promise a result? No. It is a traditional act of worship, and we do not promise outcomes.

Do I need to wear yellow? Many families do, but customs vary. Ask the pandit.

What if my guru has given specific instructions? Share them at booking and the pandit will follow where possible.
