About

About the Ekadasha Rudram Homam with Pandit Ji

Ekadasha Rudram is a long and specialised ritual, and families often don't know how it is planned, how many pandits are needed or how long it runs. A pandit explains the format and takes charge of the recitation and the havan.

Rudram is a Vedic hymn dedicated to Shiva, traditionally recited in the Rudra form, with the eleven-fold recitation known as Ekadasha Rudram. Families often combine it with abhishek and homam. Formats vary widely.

Families who follow Shaiva traditions; households marking a significant life event; devotees who offer Rudram on Mahashivratri or a Monday.

Many families choose Mondays, Pradosh, Mahashivratri or the month of Shravan, but this varies. Your pandit can suggest muhurat options and your family's custom takes priority.

About 1 hour for the standard ceremony; about 1.5 hours for the extended one.

Ask us about the exact format at booking: what the standard and extended versions cover and how many pandits are needed for a fuller recitation.

Choose 'With samagri' and the pandit brings the ritual items. Choose 'Own samagri' if you already have them or prefer to buy them yourself.

A live video version of Ekadasha Rudram Homam may be possible, but it needs confirming with us first because of the format and length. Tell us your plan when you enquire.

The household. The family member(s) for whom the homa is done usually sit at the havan. Others can join for the purnahuti.

Ekadasha Rudram may be done as eleven recitations by one pandit or by eleven pandits, and with or without abhishek. Share your family's practice when booking.

Havan involves an open flame and smoke. Use a stable heat-safe surface, keep the room ventilated, keep water nearby, and keep flames away from curtains, children and pets. Follow your building's rules on havan in common areas.

How many pandits are needed? It depends on the format. Please confirm with us at booking.

How long should I plan for? About 1 hour for the standard and about 1.5 hours for the extended listed format, but a fuller recitation can take longer.

Does it include abhishek? Some families add one. Ask us when booking.

Can we do it on video? Possibly, but the format needs confirming first.

Is it linked to any day? Many families choose Mondays or Shivratri, but any day the pandit suggests can work.
