Time to set aside
45–60 minutes
A calm first entry into a new home, organised around the threshold, first lamp and family gathering.
Safety first
Keep pathways clear for elders and children. Place lamps away from curtains, packing paper and doorway traffic.
A week before
Confirm the entry time and choose a clean pooja corner before furniture arrives.
The evening before
Mop the entrance, arrange milk, curd and flowers, and unpack the kit.
15 minutes before
Hang the toran securely and place the kalash where it cannot be knocked over.
A practical starting layout. If your family or pandit arranges things differently, follow them.

Fresh from home
Pick up fresh, close to the day

Unpack the pooja box before the movers arrive.
Use removable fixing for the toran on a rental doorway.
Keep the first entry simple if the full havan is scheduled separately.
For the first lamp, first threshold and first gathering in a new home.

The same steps are printed on the card inside — written to inform, never to prescribe.
Clear a low table, wipe it down, lay the cotton asan.
Light the diya first, then the incense. Ring the bell once.
Water, flowers, then the prasad you've made or bought.
Sit for a minute before you get up. That minute is the point.
Keep the yantra and Ganesh in the home mandir.
Reuse diyas and metal pieces for regular prayer.
Compost flowers and natural toran pieces when dry.
Clay from Khurja, brass from Moradabad, cotton from Erode, and a small studio in Delhi that prints the guides. Repeat orders, fair rates, and the same hands each season.
