Mustard oil for diya is a long-standing choice in many Indian homes, and this bottle is kept for that single purpose: the lamp. Sarson ka tel is poured into a clean diya, a cotton wick is set in it and the flame is lit at the altar, at the doorstep or on festival evenings.
Many families light an oil lamp each morning or evening in the temple corner, and mustard oil is what they reach for. Others prefer ghee, and customs differ by family and region, so we simply make the oil available for those who use it. It is also a handy thing to have ready around Diwali, when more diyas are lit than usual, and for pooja preparations when you want everything on the thali and nothing missing.
Keeping a bottle at home means the diyas are never left waiting. Pour from the bottle rather than into it, fill the diya to a sensible level and trim the wick if the flame flickers. It sits comfortably alongside your cotton wicks, matchbox and pooja thali.
What you get is one 100 ml bottle of mustard oil for pooja, marketed by Vedic Rituals. The ritual is yours. The preparation is ours.
