Havan samidha are the wooden sticks that feed the fire in a havan, and having a bundle ready alongside the samagri and ghee lets the ritual begin and carry on smoothly. Many families use hawan samidha for a home havan, for griha pravesh, and on festival days such as Navratri. Some also keep a regular agni pooja, daily or occasionally, as their family practice.
To set up, stack a few sticks in the havan kund and light them with camphor. Add more sticks as the fire settles, a little at a time, so it burns steadily. Keep the samagri, ghee and a spoon within reach before you light the fire, so you do not have to step away. Samidha for griha pravesh is often laid out the day before, with the kund and other items.
Wood type and stick thickness vary naturally, and your pandit or family may prefer a specific wood, so check before the day. Store the sticks in a dry place away from moisture so they light easily. You receive one 500 g bundle of havan samidha, wooden sticks supplied for ritual use. Because this is open fire, follow the safety notes below. The ritual is yours. The preparation is ours.

Samidha are the wooden sticks that feed the fire, while hawan samagri is the blend offered into it as aahuti. Most havans use both, along with ghee and camphor, as per family practice.
Wood type and stick thickness vary naturally, and your pandit or family may prefer a specific wood. It is best to check with them before the day of the havan.
Store them in a dry place, away from moisture, so they light easily. Keep them away from the kund and any open flame until you are ready to begin the havan.
